Gerrard Corporation has broken ground on the new townhomes called Heritage Cottages in Hudson, WI. Designed for active adults fifty-five and better, the Heritage Cottage townhomes are located within the subdivision known as Heritage Greens with the first buildings to be ready for occupancy in March, 2009.  

Heritage Cottages townhomes will include one- and two- bedroom apartments in single-level four-plex buildings with a garden/cottage design. Innovative electric in-floor radiant heat will be installed to increase energy efficiency. This system will use the building's foundation and the ground below as a heat storage reservoir during electric off-peak, low-cost hours.  Heat will then be radiated from the storage reservoir through the slab into the floor.  Electric baseboard heat will be provided as an alternative or as a supplemental heating source.  To further conserve energy, the heat and utilities will be set up for on-peak/off-peak metering, so residents can choose to conserve energy dollars by utilizing major appliances and even extra heat during off-peak hours.  With careful conservation, tenants can save over 75% during off-peak hours.

The townhomes also include a large community center for private and community functions, on-site beauty/barber facility, sports court/fitness area, a subsidized door-to-door transportation program, as well as an on-site rental management office and a maintenance person on-call.
